IOWA BIODIESEL TAX CREDIT STATEMENT

WALCOTT, IA – Iowa 80 Group issued the following statement today in support of the Biodiesel Tax Credit Extension Act of 2024, H.R. 9060. This tax credit bill would extend the biodiesel blender’s tax credit for one year. This biodiesel tax credit is the most prevalent biofuel credit and was first established with the American Jobs Creation Act of 2004.

H.R. 9060 was introduced by Representatives Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa), Mike Carey (R-Ohio), Claudia Tenney (R-N.Y.), and Anne Kuster (D-N.H.). The following statement can be attributed to Delia Moon Meier, owner and senior vice president of Iowa 80 Group, including The World’s Largest Truckstop, and CAT Scale Company which is headquartered in Walcott, Iowa.

“We applaud Rep. Miller-Meeks for showing such a strong commitment to Iowa businesses and families by introducing the Biodiesel Tax Credit Extension Act of 2024. Biodiesel has long been an economic driver for our state. Iowa ranks first in biodiesel production nationwide. The biodiesel industry represents $850 billion of Iowa’s Gross Domestic Product, it lowers our fuel prices and improves our air quality. Without this legislation, the biodiesel industry faces an existential risk. This bill represents a clear opportunity for Iowa’s elected officials to uniformly support Iowa business and all Iowans. We urge Iowa’s entire delegation to support this extension to the biodiesel blender’s tax credit.”

H.R. 9060 was also supported by NATSO, representing America’s travel centers and truck stops; SIGMA: America’s Leading Fuel Marketers; and the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS).
